.............A kind of Turkish K98. Built on the indigenous K. Kale large ring/small barrel shank action.

Actually a quite nice rifle, 24" barrel.

Front sight with it's protective wings. Adjutment is through the square hole in either wing.

Hard to see in the photo but the underside of the bolt knob is milled flat, and there is a relief routing in the stock under it.

Action is typical M38. Marked T.C, ASFA, K. Kale, then ANKARA. Under that is a date of 1944. The blued buttplate with the brass screws is kinda pretty.

All the numbers match which is a bit unusual for the typical Turks, but I've not seen that many M38/46's. As was found on some Turks, this one has a rather nice piece of walnut. It was kept from being really nice by only half hearted finishing.
The rifle is a very fine shooter with an at least VG bore. I have 4 Turk rifles and I was lucky in that only one had a weak (but shootable) bore. The other 3 are very tight, requiring a cast boolit be sized to .323 or .3235", Otherwise they get scraped up in the throat, or set back into the case. This is the one I split the stock at the wrist, working my 240gr slug up to 2300 fps. Wasn't real bad and was readily repaired.
