guys i have absorbed some stuff from most of you. i read a ton of what is posted.
i perfer rifle powder in rifle loads, but i do listen.
i took this boolit gc at 180, ww, water quenched, sized 325, apache blue lube cause i still have some. r-p cases, rem 9 1/2 primers, all boolits seated at 3.0 with a lee hand loader, no crimp. slight engrave, frim bolt close.

rifle is a preduce44/mauser 98 rerowned and 4x weaver mounted. i shot the 2400/16 load at 50yds to get on paper as the rifle had been sited in at 200 with 150 jacketed. i then shot the 16.5/17.0 loads at 100yd but the wind started kicking up. we shoot across a stream bed from 50 to 100, so i moved the target back in to 50 where a berm cuts the wind a bit. all in all a good day.

red dot as a bunch have reccomended

12.5 1512 fps 3 in .5 but two flyers making 1.5 for 5
13.0 1559 fps 3 in .5 1.2 for 5
13.5 1570 fps 5 in .7.....a keeper fer sure

4227-- i got from sundog's 06 load

20.5 1624 3 in one hole 5 in .6.....another keeper
21.0 1651 4 in .5 and i pulled the 5th for 5 in 1.2....another keeper
21.5 1733 3 in .7 , 5 in 1.7....

2400 as listed by a bunch

16.0 1456 4 in one hole...maybe .4 ,5 in .8 the first shot cold was a tad out..lol
*16.5 1486 3 in 1in, 5 in 1.7( shooting at 100 in stiff winds)
*17.0 1526 3in 1.2, 5 in 2.7(shooting at 100 in stiff winds)

a good boolit with lots of possibilities.

mike
I ran some patches thru the bore , first cause i like getting powder fouling out, but in this case to see what leading there might be.
a few slivers of lead.......that was all....this was a total of 49 rounds with 4 different powders...( 4 plinking shots with varget added to 15 each of the three above)
i gotta try this with the 311284 in the 03a3...........

I did a little (very little) accuracy work with this boolit with BD and RD last weekend, but NO velocities.

Your information gives me a hint where I am going to have to go to get hunting velocities outa this boolit.

Anyone out there with some 4759 (or slower) data for this boolit in the 8X57?

Mike--

If this GB 175 is similar to the mass-production Lee 175, this boolit has done some real fine work for me with 2400 to 18.0 grains in a 1944 G98/40 with an indifferent bore. It has just the issue barley-corn irons, but it's still a fun critter to chase Buckshot and the rest of the Burrito banditos with.

...............I had that boolit loaded up in some ammo for a Turk M38 (Imperial reciever) I have. It was an OUSTANDING load! I don't know if Deputy Al recalls it or not but I lamented to him it was a real shame I forgot to record the load info on the plastic ammo box! I only had enough to get in the 10 ring and shoot the Burrito Match, or I'd have saved a round to pull down and check.

It was probably 22.0grs of SR4759 and a dacron wad, but I don't know that to swear to it.

Glad to see that others are happy with this Group Buy design too. So far I've played with 17-18 grains of 2400 behind this boolit. My 98/29 Persian Mauser will keep 'em all on a paper plate @ 100 yds off the bench with issue sights. Just need to put some serious work into finding the sweet spot. I plan on trying other powders in the future, but probably not til Spring.

BTW, I'm sizing them down to .325" with my Star Lube-Sizer; and using an alloy of straight wheelweight. They drop .326"+ from the mold.
