Absolutely. Another disappearing lead source. New cars have a non lead battery clamps.

Melted up a bunch of them. Most seem to be dead soft lead. Good stuff.

I would say hacksawing the terminals off the batteyr is more work than it is worth.

Could you try a battery powered drill with a cut off wheel?

battery powered sawzall, but not at the expense of having to buy one. UNLESS there are a gazzillion cars to which you would have untethered access. Then, you'd also need a way to haul off all those buckets of pieces that would weigh a bunch.

Cordless sawsall for the posts, I melted down several clamps and they [most] had a steel band that was cast into them, good soft lead but alot like skimming off ww clips, along with the copper wire. The repair type seem to be solid lead.

I've melted several terminals down. Like said above, they are good dead-soft lead...

Why is dead soft lead good? for smoke poles? I wish i liked it or had a use for it. I guess when the WW's dry up I'll be mixing up my own WW alloy :lovebooli

Well, the reason I say "good" is because it's not an unknown alloy. Soft, pure lead can be alloyed 50/50 with WW's to make your WW's last longer (50/50 is what I use for .45's, for example). And yes, you can cast them as is for ML's as well...

A lot of people mix WW with pure in a 50/50 ratio.
Also, you can use to mix with harder lead like linotype or monotype.

Or you could trade it here for WW if you have no use for ML boolits and don't want to alloy it with your WW.

As mentioned, there is often a steel circular clip inside that needs removed like a WW clip, and the nut & bolt of course. The copper strands go in the #2 copper bucket, the steel hardware goes in the dross bucket. Good source of lead, a bucketfull adds up quick.
