In my opinion the big Rugers are too big for the cartridge. I think a K frame would be OK. I have the Charter Arms Target Patriot and it is a very good size. A Ruger SP with 5" barrel and adjustable sights would be good, also. A Colt Police Positive Special would be perfect. I've looked at and held the big Rugers and just can't warm to them in 327 Federal Magnum. Now a USFA 32-20/327 Convertible would warm me right up.

I have the Blackhawk. i also have an SP 101 in 32 mag. if you plan to need a self defence weapon ,the SP 101 or simular is best For me the Blackhawk is a nice trail/ small ganme target gun. I also plan to put a red dot on it down the line( aint getting youger) i never shot 327 Fed in it. Have a box or 110 Gold Dots for defence / hunting

I also own both guns Blackhawk and gp100 in 327 fed. I find myself using the GP 100 most of the time, though the blackhawk is nice it is a large gun suited for range use in my opion. When at my cabin the GP 100 is my carry gun of choice loaded with AA#9 and Lyman 311316 nothing but pure fun.

I have had the Blackhawk for a while now. It shoots the 115 lead bullets and the Speer golddot very well. I stuff them full of Accurate number 9 and crimp the cases well. I also have a Buckeye special with 32-20 and 32 H&R Mag cylinders. Will have a thousand H&R cases to load one day next week from Starline. According to Brian Pearce the 32 H&R can be loaded very hot and that will be my plan. I intend to drive the Hot 32 caliber NOE gaschecked bullets (both hollowpoint and SWC) as fast as the alloy and lube allows. These two pistols and my Blackhawk 30 carbine provide a lot of fun and pleasure. Get the 8 shot Blackhawk. You won't be displeased.

I'm for the Black Hawk. I just can't see the GP100 chambered for that cartridge. I'd like an SP101 with the 3 1/4 inch barrel with adjustable sights. I'd also like a porsche 911, but that ain't happening either. That said, the BH seems like a dandy trail gun.

As time goes on, I'm more inclined to think that the 327 Federal is what the 32 Magnum should have been all along. I have one of the Model 16-4 S&Ws Bret mentioned, and unless I can find spare cylinders for swapping, I won't be having its chambers re-cut for either 327 Federal or 32-20. I'd love to, though.

I'm picking up a Blackhawk in 30 Carbine today, and I PROMISE not to fire it in fault zones. Such recklessness could set off earthquakes with its strident report. Can't have THAT.

i agree the 32 mag can be handloaded to 40,000 PSI.( in a strong pistol) with the right powder and bullet choice. In a heavy bullet the 327 extra powder capacity wins out. I get 7 grains Unique in 32 mag case ,about 9.5 g in 327 Fed. I love the 32 Mag/327 Fed family. Shoots all from 32 S& W ,32 auto, 32 Long, 32 Mag, 327 Fed
