I desire to make and load 9mm plinking ammo I can use in multiple guns and not really have to worry about if it is going to work or not. Right now I just use 115g FMJ from Montana gold or Precision delta, but I want to cast my own.

I do plan to tailor boolits for USPSA purposes, but for my just lets go shoot stuff at the range sessions I want a good all around design and size.

I think sizing to .357 will work in most common 9mm designs and some sort of round nose will probably be my best bet, but which one would be the most "Universal" design.

Thanks

My 1950s Browning HiPower has a really small groove diameter, something just under .356". My Beretta 92FS barrels and Commercial P38 have groove diameters that are about .358", so I use .359" bullets. The Browning chamber will not accept a cartridge with a .359" bullet, and anything less than .359" diameter bullets in the Beretta gets me lots of Leading.

Let your groove diameters be your guide.

+1 for Lee 120TC sized to bore diam plus .001 or .002. I use .357 or .358 and they
work well in many different 9mms.

I've always had real good luck with Lyman's 356402 sized .357. Shoots in both my High Powers and also in my son's .38 Super./beagle

Ok, I didn't realize TC would feed better in more guns than Round nose. That's good I'll try that mold first.

Don't know as I'd say the TC will feed better than an RN but by careful adj of COAL you can usually get it to feed.
The orginal bullets for 9x19 were conical.
My first thought is what bullet weight and speed do you want most of my 9mm boolit's are heavy for weight 120-158 grain to run subsonic mostly.
I have 90-105 grn that I can use in 380 and 9x19.

I like this 135 grn pointy RN is my favorite

Lee also makes a 125 grain round nose that I have been using since the 70's in various 9mms. You might like it.
