My question is since I'm out of lead how will wheel weights work with blackpowder? The ones I have are about 10-11 BHN.
I had my 45/70 Pedersoli Rolling Block throated so I could seat something longer than a RCBS 45 325 FN.Yesterday I shot some store bought 405 gr cast from a magma mould out of 92 2 6 stuff. To hard and .459 diameter. This barrel is .461 groove-.444 bore jackhandle or barrel, not sure yet. They all went thru the paper nose first.Even after 40 rounds.Took 6 patches to stop getting lead out of the barrel. After I got my crappy rear sight zeroed. At 100 yds. 27 grs. of IMR 4759 seemed to be good for about 2 inches. At 200 yds. I tried 30 grs Of 4759.Won't shoot any more of those.Next I'm going to try some Lyman 457132 cast out of duck decoy and cast net weights over 65 and 70 grs of Goex 2 F and a felt wad about .100 thick.I compressed enough to have .500 of the bullet in the case.

Why don’t you load up 60 rounds and go out to YCSA and shoot a match. While you are there you can get some advice from experts.

I'm working toward that.I shoot IHMSA and NRA CLA already so I have a NRA score book. The duck decoy weight bullets did much better then the store bought bullets and smokeless powder.

First attempt at compressed blackpowder loads.New,unsized,Starline cases,FC210 primer.Bullets cast from duck decoy and cast net weights,.459 diameter, mostly SPG lube but some left over Lee alox in the lubrisizer.used a .460 die
