Here in UK the EU have made wheel weights in lead illegal, it is now an alloy that does not melt at our temperatures. Linotype has not existed for years. At the moment I am using a mix of diving weights, pure lead and Plumbers Solder, expensive!

Lead is so expensive in UK That thieves are stripping Church roofs three times over and more. Mind you they are also stripping copper cables from Power substations and overhead cables, some die in the process.

Any ideas.

Welcome to the addiction!! You might try to find lead of some sort from sail boat ballast. Apparently, there's quite a bit of it down there. Good luck. enjoy Mike

John, sources for lead:
* Dentists - the lead backing used on XRays
* Metal Recyclers
* Auto radiator repair shops - they use solder to repair the radiators
* Range lead: skeet - trap and solid bullets
* Talk to as many plumbers and roofers you can find: lead pipe and roof sheet lead
* Stain glass makers use lead to hold the pieces of glass together - they have scraps
* Talk to the marina owners and folks with sail boats
...... Make a bullet trap for your spent bullets

I would second the bullet trap idea. Reusing your own lead is as cheap as it gets. :Fire:

Plus if you go where others have shot, take a few coffee cans with you and pick through the berms for spent bullets.
