Got a guy that sells reclaimed shot off a trap range...can this be used for cast rifle bullets under 1600fps ? Or do I need to add WW to alloy it? Fellow wants $1.00 a pound in 25lbs/$25.00 lots...I think this is high yet alot of driving around only to hear "we already save them WW for some other guy"...What say you??? Thanks, Tedly....

A buck a pound local for known alloy isn't outrageous in today's market. I don't like the fill out on pure shot due to the arsenic content. A bit of tin counteracts that though.

If it's what you can get, it will serve.

If it's clean (no dirt) and has graphite, then it's a good price. That's what I pay in my area.

Chilled Shot has 2% Antimony and Magnum Shot has 5% Antimony.
If you assume that Reclaimed Shot has an equal mix of both, then you can use one of these recipes:

5 lbs Clip on WW
5 lbs Reclaimed Shot
1 oz 50/50 solder
= 10 lbs Mixed Alloy (0.56% Tin, 2.73% Antimony, Hardness @ 10)

5 lbs Pure Lead
5 lbs Reclaimed Shot
2 oz 50/50 solder
= 10 lbs Mixed Alloy (0.62% Tin, 1.73% Antimony, Hardness @ 10)

10 lbs Reclaimed Shot
2 oz 50/50 solder
= 10 lbs Mixed Alloy (0.62% Tin, 3.43% Antimony, Hardness @ 12)

A good chunk of my stash is reclaimed shot that I bought from JiminPHX in the summer of '09.

It's good stuff. Very little waste when making ingots compared to WW's. Casts very nice bullets if you add .5%-1% tin. Unless you have reason to believe otherwise, treat it the same as clip on WW's when making your alloys.

That's about the going rate I believe!
