What can I use for 357 jackets? How much are commercial jackets for this size?
Thank you

I've been using .380 brass and 105 grain bullets to make 160 grain .357 bullets. In fact, I just annealed another batch of them this evening in my kiln, along with a bunch of .40 S&W brass for .44 bullets.

Commercial jackets are expensive, which is why I use the free "jackets" I pick up at the range.

Hope this helps.

Blaster62,

A good friend loaned me a ceramics kiln that will heat up to about 2,200 degrees. It works on 110 volts and was made in 1937. Two people can lift it and it's on rollers, so it's perfect for what I'm doing. I tried to buy it from him, but he said to just use it as long as I need it and if I die before him, my wife can return it.

The heating area is about 12"x12"x12". I bought some stainless steel pans at the Goodwill for $2.00 each and they work great. I can anneal roughly 800 .40 S&W cases, with lead cores in place, at a time. I just let it heat up until the gauge reads 1,200 degrees and then shut it off and let it cool off. If I leave it closed, it will still be over 200 degrees after 24 hours, but if I open the lid, it will be cooled off in a couple of hours.

Hope this helps.

Fred
