Tula and Wolf primers are Russian made. I tried Tula small pistol primers during the Great 2009 Primer Shortage, they all went Bang!
The Russians are trying to establish themselves in the marketplace, and the price is very attractive at the moment.

All primer makes are fungible in my experience (11 million rounds loaded and counting, commercially and for myself).

I won't go so far as to say that primers are primers, but a change might make a good load better, but won't make a bad load good or a good load bad.

I think with the price of primers coming down and increased avalibility I would stick with proven componets.

I have used a lot of the Russian made primers
Sold under several names PMC , Tula and Wolf

All have worked

Some took a touch more force to seat

I like the Wolf Small Rifle Mag primers for my AR loads so well
We just ordered a supply from Widener's that shold last me a while

Wolf and Tula primers give very good SD variations

There is a primer burn chart, those Russian ones dont even make it one the chart.
If you want to get the best standard primer you want either a Winchester LR, or Remington 91/2. Same for smalls. Magnums are Federal GM215M, then CCI 250 Magnum.

I disagree with some. Ive seen swapping primers completely change a load both good and bad and in my experinece its always good to try a couple differnt ones. Ive had no experinece with the wolf rifle primers but have used the pistol and there weak primers. Even the mag primers arent as hot as standard ccis or feds. Ive had squib loads with them a few times and have found a couple in the package that didnt even have an anvil. I wont waste my money anymore. For a few bucks more i get piece of mind. Ive heard that there rifle primers are a bit better. I would guess there main production is for large and small rifle primers used in 762x39 and they probably take a bit more care with those. But im sure not impressed with there pistol primers. Id bet the most who claim they work well or give small spreads in velocity are using easy to ignite powders like bullseye and shooting in warm climates.

I have not tried any of the Russian primers I have several friends who use tons of them for their plinking loads. I dont think you can go wrong for the price for a plink primer.

I've used Wolf primers extensively without a single problem. Started when the primer supply dried up a couple of years ago and I needed to keep shooting.

Right now, Cabela's online you can get 1000 for $19.99.

If you buy large rifle primers from Cabella's. Take a pack out of the box and have them scan it. If you buy 100 in a box, its $2.88. If you buy the box, even on sale like it is now. $30.99
With Winchester & CCI on sale, you dont need to get the discount brands

I bought one box of Wolf large pistol primers and one box of Wolf small pistol primers during the great outage.

Never again.

I have a limited variety available locally. CCI and Winchester get about $45.00@K and Wolf goes for $32.50. Until prices change I'll be using Wolf.

I found that the Tula SPP were a bit harder to seat than Winchester SPP with my Lee Hand Primer.

I haven't found any difference between Wolf, Winchester, CCI and Magtec. They all seat and go bang.

I have shot thousands of Wolf in all flavors and they have been just as dependable as the thousands of CCI, Federal and Winchester I have shot. I currently have about 20K Wolf primers in my safe and will continue to use them until they prove to be unreliable.

Available for how long? Primers have a very long shelf life. Nothing wrong with setting aside a few sleeves of the sizes you use most and forget about them. With Wolf's right now running $15-17, I'm buying all I can.

When Cheddite shotgun primers first came out, everyone poo poo's them because there was no published data on them. Same with the Wolf's. The russians made the most accurate 22 rimfire ammo in the world for a long time so they know how to make quality components. If the stuff wasn't any good, they won't be able sell it here no matter the price. One time maybe but that would be the end of the market here if they send junk over. I have never has a misfire of a shotgun, rifle or pistol primer of any manufacture that wasn't my fault. ie. light strike from improperly headspaced rifle cases etc. I have gone through over 100,000 thousand Remingtons, Winchesters, CCI's Cheddites and Wolfs and a few thousand federals in there for good measure too. All worked fine and most with no load changes by the time I was done. Exercise caution and drop down and work the load back up.

I've loaded and shot nearly 30K of Wolf primers in the past 12 months and had no problems at all. They all went bang. I have used LR, SR, and SP primers. Someone said they got some Wolf without priming compound in them? Well I had a batch of Winchester last year with the same problem. It's not limited to Wolf.

I heard that wolf went bankrupt, bought out by tula.
I got an email ad from natchezss, fiocchi primers, 1500 per carton, sr-31.99, sp-33.99, lp-35.99, swiss made. I haven't tried them, may order a sleeve.
