Has anyone used SRP in a 1894 38 357? Just wondered if they have enough hammer strike to be reliable.

Thanks

I've used them and never had a problem with it. In fact all of my loads for my 1894C use SRP's.

Do they work better than SP's or SPM's, don't know. But they work fine for me and that's all that matters.

ive used srp in substution for sp or spm in 357 and 38 supers with no problem as long as the load was worked up for the primer being used .
I also use reg sp primers for loads with Tightgroup powder up to 1100 fps with 260 to 300 gr bullets in the 454 casull
with excellent results

I've used small rifle magnums (F205)with no issues in any of my (3) 1894c or Browning Lowall.

I'm not crazy about using rifle primers in handgun caliber cases since the primers are thicker, and protrude from the primer pocket a bit if just seated to the bottom of the pocket. That probably isn't an issue, but I don't like the looks of it much. I have used pistol primers in rifle cases for light loads at times, and often load my .22 Hornet cases with them since I get better accuracy using them.

SRP's work well for me in .357 marlin and all others. Adjust load accordingly, no difference dimensionally.

Interesting because I have a few boxes of Small Rifle Magnum and no other rifle to use that many for. Tried them with 13.5 grains of 2400 behind a Lee 150 RNFP and saw no real problems. My tests were hardly exhaustive.

On checking further it appears that we are both right. There isn't a difference in thickness between small pistol, and small rifle primers, but there is a difference in large pistol, and large rifle primers, both in the primer, and the depth of the primer pocket.
