I picked up a couple of jugs of RVO-57 some years ago and have been using it with some success with cast boolits, Does anyone know what the current equivalent is?
I have been using 57.2 grains in a Remington 721 in 30-06 behind a Lee C309-200-R cast from wheel weight alloy. It gets about 1800 fps and groups under an inch at 100yds.
I have also used 115 grains behind an RCBS .416-350-FN in 416 Rigby that got 2068 fps and was quite accurate.
I am starting to run low on this powder and was wondering what currently available powder would be a rough equivalent.

RVO-57 was originally a pulldown 50 BMG powder in the speed range of 5010 or Wcc860. If memory serves, it is a ball powder and probably is Wcc860. They also sold RVO-62 which was a 20mm powder that was even slower.

It is a ball powder, but has a coarser appearance than WC860. I have some WC860 that I have been using with jacketed bullets in the 30-378, I guess I will try some behind my cast boolits. I just ordered some WC867 and WC872 from Wideners. I guess it's time to start working up some new loads.
