thats what my shooting bud calls it. he put a 45-70 barrel on a martini and chambered it to 45 colt. it,s a tack driver and he,s taken a deer 4 years in a row with it.
welll i had 2 martini carbines sitting here and one had a fairly good shootable bore.
so i cut about 10 blond ones over an inch of the breach and sleaved the chamber
and chambered it to 45 colt. i have not shot it yet as it,s in the - 20,s here.
the sleave is 1 thou press fit with locktite and pinned in 2 places. u can see one pin
in the pic. with that 20 in barrel. it,s a sweetheart to handle.

That looks really cool. What are you sizing your boolits to?

That's very cool. I have a Low Wall in 45 colt that is an absolute favorite of mine and I call it the 45-35. 45 for the caliber of course, and 35 for the charge weight of Swiss 1.5fg.

Lotsa fun

That's my question also.
Nominal barrel cuts:
45 Colt: 442 - 448
45-70: 450 - 457
Barrel differences: 0.008 - 0.009 with the 45-70 bore being larger than a 45 Colt!
So, how does a smaller diameter bullet obtuate in a bore with a larger groove diameter?
Plus, how did you rechamber a 45-70 chamber that takes a 505 case to a 45 Colt chamber that takes a 480 case

What am I missing with these '45-70 shorts'?

the base of 45-70 is .500-.505. the front end is .480, in strait taper. he is cutting the breach face off so shortening the chamber by removing the rear of it.

That's very nice! I have a 45LC Buffalo Classic that is a great little carbine, but that original Martini beats it hands down.
