Post your favorite 1911, and how many rounds you happen to have thru it. Curious to see whats out there, and gets shot.

Mine is a wilson combat tactical elite, only owned it for 6 months so its only got 2000 rounds thru it at this point.

Springfield Gov. Spec. about 1000 rounds through it. It was a little stiff at first, but after about 100 rounds it has been 100%.

Each of these have seen years of about 10,000 rounds a year of IPSC and practice.

Early 1990's, late 1990's, and my current Lim. division IPSC gun

A 1917 vintage commercial Colt 1911. It was Grampa's, then Dad's, now mine. Grampa and Dad shot competitive Bullseye with it and there is no telling how many thousands of rounds have been down the pipe. I remember the very first time I was allowed to shoot it. Grampa drove us down a dirt road on the outskirts of Raymond, NH and we put some old cans up on a wooden fence. Grampa had it stoked with his competition loads, an H&G #130 over some tiny charge of Hercules Bullseye. Real softball loads they were, but I was 8 years old and had only shot .22's up to that point. Old slab sides made quite an impression on this kid.

Grampa was the one that soldered on the Patridge front and bobbed the hammer. No doubt killed any collector value, but no matter... It's priceless to me.

My Grandfather carried this in WORLD WAR ONE

My father got an EXPERT ribbon at Cherry Point with it in the 1960's

I grew up shooting it in the 1970's, . . . . knowing, per my Grandfathers instructions, I would inherit it when I turned 18.

I'm a 3rd generation 1911 gun-nut.

That my friend, is a beautiful thing! That pistol is worth a bundle, but the memories even more.

Essex arms frame and slide. Put together by me. Various parts from different manufacturers. Laser etching done by a good friend have a couple 1000 thru it. Factory and mostly reloaded. FMJ 230 and LRN 230 and LSWC 200.
It is my daily carry piece.

Clark Long Heavey Slide 45 ACP Colt. I bought it used in 1985 and have fired over 125,000 rounds though it on my way to Distinguished Master, 2600 club member and President 100 Badge holder. Rebuilt it once, original barrel. All
Cast Boolits!!! Another 50,000 until I make high master.

Dad bought this one new in 1970 for the pricey sum of $126.23. Had the ramp modified to feed target bullets, had a trigger job done then used it to stay qualified throughout his career but I cannot tell you how many rounds it has seen. I do remember going to the range with him many times when I was young and watch him empty out a 50 cal ammo can of 45's while practicing. I have run a couple mags through it also ;-). As you can see I still have the orginal box and underneath the original oil paper is all the paperwork that came with it from the factory. The left side view makes the grips appear rough like the finish is bad but that is the texture of both grips.

Early '80's Colt Combat Government. Lost track of round count at about the 20K mark.

Springfield Omega in 10mm. I never took pics before I sold it, but it was just like this one:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=204041171

I'd put thousands of rounds through it shooting pin matches back in the day. Damned accurate, and it helped me take several first place finishes. Originally purchased for just under $400 in the mid-90s, it got to be worth too much money to continually pour lead through...

an elcheapo auto ordnance 45. I fit a new trigger-hammer-sear-grips-beavertail safety-barrel bushing. I have heard many bad things about these pistols but mine is very accurate and has never let me down. WELL over 15000 reloads through it.

My favorite 1911 is this Essex Arms frame with a Colt Series Seventy Slide, National Match barrel, etc built up by Harold Johnson. I have over 100,000 rounds through mine.

It is now my NRA Bullseye gun but formerly did my IPSC chores. It will still shoot under 2" at fifty yards off a Ransom Rest.

I haven't owned a 1911 for many years. I had a pretty nice Remington Rand in like new condition for awhile and it was okay. I doubt I put more than 500 rounds through it.
An injury to my right hand has made keeping a grip safety disenaged problematic. Last few times I shot a 1911, trying several of differing makes both military and Colt commercial, the grip safety spring were a bit too strong, much stronger than the spring of my Remington Rand.

I'd considered trying on of those South American copies without the grip safety (Ballestor molina ?).
I would not want to disable a grip safety or weaken it to suit me, since someone years later might have a problem because of the modifications.

PS
One Commercial Colt I fired some , it belonged to a friend, had a collet barrel bushing. The bushing broke jamming pieces tight inside the slide. He couldn't get the bushing out or the slide off. He sent it back to Colt and they had to cut the slide up to get it off. They repaired it free of charge with a new slide and other parts. He then obtained a regular bushing and fitted it.

The 1911 that I shot most was a series 70 Colt Government model I bought in the early 70s. When I finally sold it about 20 years later it had over 50,000 rounds through it. The next most shot pistol was one I put together from parts on an essex frame with mostly GI parts I bought at a gun show. This was my beater gun that went everywhere with me. I had almost 50,000 rounds through it when I sold it to my ex boss on his retirement.

This is my carry piece. It has thousands and thousands of factory lead, hardball and my favorite reload (230gr RN cast lead over 4.5gr Bullseye) through it.

After a few hundred rounds of break in and a recoil spring replacement and feed ramp polishing, it has never jammed.

Multiple 1911s in various calibers that are well over 50,000 each; several approaching
100,000.

Greetings
My favorite is a Remington Rand from 1943. It was well carried but looked to have not many rounds through it before I got it about 15 yeras ago. I generally put 200 rounds through it each time up so it must be around 1000 now. It is in storage up North there or I would add a picture.

Here is my 1943 Remington Rand, it has been mine for a year, guess 3000 shots in that time, it will be a lot more this summer, as you know, i cast my own.

"Back in the day", I had a Remington-Rand 1911 AI modified for Bullseye shooting. I rebuilt it several times and had upwards of 200,000 rounds through it. I had a commercial Colt also modified as a backup, I think it had about 75,000 rounds through it. There were several others that had 20,00 or more rounds through them.

Today I have a Norinco 1911A1 and a Colt GM. They are fairly low mileage with maybe 4 K round each. I only put 500 rounds or so a year through each one, so they will last me the rest of my life, plus my son's. As long as you don't batter or crack the frame or slide, you can keep em running for a very long time.

thompson marked Auto Ordinance, two tone. not actual round count, but for 4 years in college I shot 250 rounds 3 times a week. I have had 45 acp barrels in it, wore out the first 2. Now it is fitted with a 400 corbon barrel and a springfield 45 acp barrel. Last year I shot 1500 rounds thru it before getting tired of chasing brass.

Have done a fair bit of work on it myself and it is just a fun and reliable sidearm. Next up is a new set of sights for it! And new checkmate mags. Should be good for more years of fun.

Here is my mid '80's vintage Delta Elite. The only changes I've done is add an EFK Fire Dragon dual action recoil kit. The rounds are 200gr Hornady XTP running 1200fps. I've put about 500 rounds through it & she shoots fantastic.. Also happens to be my carry piece... :)

Colt 1911. Serial # range puts it 1914-15. I have put close to 10 thousand rounds through it my self. Before it came to me, who knows? It is the best 1911 I own and I have a bucket full of them.

Current is a Taurus PT1911 with around 2K if I had to guess. Favorite started out life as a GI Springfield, when it left my hands the only thing stock was the mag release button. Only thing I didn't do myself was the 6" SS NM barrel.
