I have a 14" Contender in 41 mag and was very pleasantly surprised at the performance of 6.6 gr of Bullseye with targets and in the field with the Lee 210 gr TL. The MV turned out to be 1200 fps. Try 7.0 gr just for giggles.:Fire:

I sold my 14" barrel, kept the 10". The 10" handles just about everything well, including 44 Special. Try it with all the applicable powders that you have on hand, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

It is probable that many standard revolver "loads" for the .44 Magnum using that PB style bullet will push them too fast for best accuracy out of that 14" barrel unless they are cast very hard. My experience with Contender barrels using PB bullets cast of softer alloys like WWs is to start low with suggested starting loads and work up as usual looking for best accuracy. I

n the three .44 barrels I've worked with Bbst magnum level accuracy was in the 1400 - 1450 fps range with Blue dot, 2400 and H4227 powders. For a medium range load 8.5 gr Unique as Dale mentions works well for me in my Contender barrel.
