I shot this nice lil 15inch buck at 142 paces Nov 15 06 at about 3 pm on our firearm opener....

15 inch Match Grade Machine encore in 357 maximum

Lee C-358-180 GrouBuy bullet...50% ww/ 50% pure lead water dropped for 21 BHN...over 20 grains of H-LilGun at about 2K fps...rem 7.5 primer..

He was chasing a doe through my grass...stopped just long enough...for a .....BOOM....FLOP...DONE.

The perfectly mushroomed bullet passed high through his right sholder, low through his spine, through his left sholder and was stopped just shy of exiting under his hide low on his left shoulder ..

This one ended my buck season, as I had already taken a dandy 128 inch 8 point with my 1995 vintage alpine bow...now I am sitting on stand with an elderly neighbor so he can kill a buck with MY pistol...

That sure is a nice one you got there. Venison is on the menu for Thanksgiving for sure. Good shooting.

Good one.
What scope do you have on that TC?

Very nice! I saw a good buck Saturday morning, but he didn't sit still long enough for a shot. Maybe this weekend.

Leuopold 2.5 to 8 EER Vari - X

Real good scope...but sometimes the eye relief could be a tad less....but it works to perfection other than that...

It weighed about 187.4 grains without lube before firing...It now weighs 146.3 grains.

Mutt lube....

Mostly microcrstalline wax with some bwax and about 15 other lubes I blended all together...smells like camphor...but works real well...plus my gun won't get congested in cold weather that way...

That's very important... I wonder if Zicam Gel would work as a lube :???:

Very nice buck and nice shooting :Fire:

Vicks vapor rub does, but C.S.I would have to get you the recipe...the nurse in the house said they was outdated  ...well it's mostly vaseline,, and it got used in a lube...it is to the point now where one would think it would have been dispersed/homogenized/diluted...by the alox/bwax/jojoba/orange oil/dyes/whatnot....but there it is.... still there smelling like it does...

Well done, nice buck, excellent cast bullet and good shooting. However, I wish to commend you mostly for; "now I am sitting on stand with an elderly neighbor so he can kill a buck with MY pistol..."

A true hunter and sportsman, congradulations!

Thanks for all the kind words fellas....feels kinda nice to share and have someone appreciate the things you do....most of my hunting buddies simply do not understand what it means to me...but then again most of them buy a box or two of shells and go at it...they most likely will never understand...

Thanks

Thank You, but it is mutually beneficial...He could not go alone as per the missus...and I get to go hunting some more if only by proxy...

Your humility is also noteworthy. However, the max effective range of an excuse is zero meters. What ever your personal reasons the kind act was generous on your part, well done.

Good work;

Your post shows the level of your skill from casting through to the eating.

Enjoy your time hunting, even if it is by proxy. Memories are made this way even if it is just the image of the smile on your neighbours face when he 'makes meat'.

Before dawn this morning I was at my neighbors house...he says that he saw a nice buck going into his little acreage last night after supper..so we went and sat in his delapidated old plywood tower blind/shack that is located right behind his house...

...about 7:45 this nice little critter came strolling in at 60 yards....1st shot he misses clean...(he was a little shaky..if you get my drift)...the buck runs dead at us and stands 25 yards away..kind of quarting to us...before I can spit out the words reload...he is reloaded and drawing the max down on the buck from a dreadful angle due to his old alcohol heater being in the way...he is all contorted when he shoots...but it works..he took him high in the left shoulder and the boolit exits through the opposite side guts..the buck drops and starts pushing his chest into the ground and going forward...fairly rapidly..he made it about 35 yards and all functions stopped..permanently.....

The ol mans ticker must work better than the docs or the missus claim...because he makes it out of the shanty and down the P.O.S ladder in a blink...by the time I got to the ground he was already holding and admiring his buck....grinning from ear to ear...and breathing in a way that concerned me,,but he was alright....you would have a hard time telling from his actions and speech he is well into his 80's....he was happy as hell, and I had a feeling in me I have rarely felt over a dead buck...What a beautiful morning it was....

Here is a pic of the buck...John requested I not put his face on the web, as he is a very untrusting man of all things new...not a high tech kinda guy..so with his wishes met this it what you get to look at..

I tried to locate it...the ground is covered in grass/moss and big dead ferns.....it simply ate it...
