I'm planning on loading for 30-30, 30-06, and eventually 7.5 swiss. is there one size of lyman m die that will work for all three cartridges?

I use the Lyman 30-Long M-die (part number 7349002) for 30-06, 7.5 Swiss, 7.62x54R and 300WM.
Not sure if it's too long for 30-30.

No. The short 30 cal. M-die is needed for 30-30 and the long one is needed for 30-06. The 7.5 Swiss is in between those lengths. Either M-die should work for it. The Lee universal expanding die will work for all of those. The Lee die only flares the mouth of the case. I prefer the Lyman M-die over the Lee die.

The long die works for 30-30, but just barely for me. The plug has to be screwed down to the point that the lock ring is not quite engaging all the threads. Just don't get ham handed with it and you should be OK.

The short body die will work for the 30-30 and 30/06. As has been stated the long die will just barely work. I made the mistake of thinking the long die would be better so I ordered it first. I should have just gotten the short die body and been done with it.

Been using the 30 short for years. It works for many calibers just by changing the expander.

Roger. And .30 Carbine too. Between the die body and the expander screw there's a LOT of adjusment range.

I use one "long" body and the apropriate expander plug for .30-30, .30-'06, 6.5X55 Swede, 7.5X55 Swiss and .303 British. The .30-30's stem does need to be screwed in rather deep, but it does work.

I use the same die for .30-06, .308, and .30-30. No problems on my Forster Co-Ax. YMMV
