I have a load which uses Red dot powder and a 125gr cast boolit and 125gr j word. Try here and look at both 38sp and 357mag loads. http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/RecipeList.aspx?gtypeid=5

Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook or their Reloading Handbook are the best published sources. Give one or two of them a try.

I shoot the RCBS 125 RN-GC cast bullet in mine w/ 7.0 grains of Bullseye... 1,350 FPS MV in my Model 27 & in my Ruger Blackhawk. Also great for the Marlin 1894C. Ihave teh Lee 125 RNF as well..it is also very good...I use it in the .38 Spl. In the Magnum I find it best to use a GC type bullet.

Coat, what are you shooting it from and what are you using it for?

The best help is found in just about any of the loading manuals, and the Lyman cast bullet guides, etc. No one here can tell you what will work best in your gun. A lot of the fun in shooting cast bullets for me is working up loads, and tinkering on my guns to get the best results that I can. Try it, and I think you will find it's fun too........ if not, perhaps you should just buy your ammo.

I have shot probably 100lbs of 231 in 38spc, 357mag, 45acp, 44spc, 44mag I found the loading data in my Hornady reloading manual. Always start below max and work your way up looking for pressure signs.

I like IMR4227 for the 357 Magnum. Not the highest velocity but very good accuracy.

I load 7gr Unique with the Lee 125gr RNFP in 357 brass. That bullet, with 5gr Unique in 38spl shoots really good in everything I've ever tried it in. Sized to .358. I haven't tried it with 5-6 grs in 357 brass, but I'd bet it would shoot well also.
