This years WW smelt begain with 928 lbs of WW that i accumulated in 2010 & 2011 . After smelting heres what i came out with . 598 lbs of WW . 85 lbs of stick on WW , 120 lbs of Zinc WW and 125 lbs of clips/ dross .
I guess this is the way things will be in the future and it will get worse !
Those da- zinc WW not only do you loose what you paid for them! now you have do smelting differently as well.
AT least the candel wax for flux was free [ I think ! ] that my wife gave me after burning her yankee candles . the green colored was the best smelling

I'm not finding many zinc weights. What I am plagued with is iron (Fe) weights. Although they don't contaminate the mix, they are a big percentage of the total weight.
I add the clips to them and take them to the scrap yard. They don't pay much, but anything adds to the dollars for the trip.

I saw someone selling zinc ingots in the swappin & sellin section the other day.
Some people use zinc to make cannonballs, apparently.

Smelt em up, if you didn't get rid of em already!

Well some might be FE also ! all i know is they float on top of the alloy . i havent done anything with them, ill just add them to the 50 pounds i ended up with last year . someday someone will be looking for zinc WW then im hoping to atleast recover the $0.25 a pound i paid for them.

Thanks for the offer ! if you were closer i would take you up on it ! i can allways use a new shooting buddy!!!
The truth of the matter is i shoot pistols 2 to 3 times a week all year long ! i belong to a club that has a indoor 50 foot range and 2 other gun clubs , theres a group of friends that i shoot with outdoors most every sunday morning at 9:00 am if the temps above 30 degrees in the morning .
Its a coverd shooting line with a 100 yard pistol range thats about 50 feet long , theres a bulding in the back divided ito 2 rooms ,1 for storage another for a lounge /shooting shack, there are 2 large picture windows where you can see the whole range , inside there are tables, chairs, pop machine , heat and a/c and a celing fan . in another out bulding next to the range thers a icebox ,tables & chairs , sink , stove microwave , bq grill
coffie maker, heat & a/c.
i reload and cast bullets for all the handgun calibers you have plus a few more. and usually shoot about 300 to 600 rounds a week including 22 lr.
Perhaps you or anyone else woud like to come shooting with ME ! i live in Charleroi 15022 in south western PA ? please leave me a PM

It's rare for me to score WW any more, but when I do I'm running up on 30% steel and zinc. And that's before the clips come out. Real take is only about 60% of bucket weight. :(

And every station you stopped at were more than happy to be rid of them.

But we don't see many 5 cent loaves of bread anymore either...

I went to a little mom and pop place, when I asked if he had some old WW's he said "no, I throw them away", do you want me to save them? I said sure, I'd love that.

Is that even worth the gas to go their? Mining the club rnge will be my lead source going forward. Lead ww around here are pretty darn scarce.

Yeah, or 30c/gal gas. Th dayds of free or cheap alloy are coming quickly to a close.

speaking of mining the clubs backstop in 2010 i recycled about 120 lbs of bullets from the hill side.
Just a thought! an idea that someone else posted! get some buseness cards made up with a fiticous company saying you are a certfied or licensed recycler of metals!
