Not sure about the use in the US but here I get .012 Al from the newspaper printers. They use lithographic plates for the printing and as i have a friend in the business I can get as much as I need for free.

This company makes the .014" flashing:

And, you can get it from ACE hardware stores. My local ACE didn't carry it specifically for some reason, but I was able to buy it on line from the ACE web site.

My Ace didn't stock it, but they happily ordered it when I gave them the stock number. Got it in a week with store pick up and no extra shipping.

Be careful when ordering from Ace web site. I ordered mine from them and it was marked .014" but it mic'd out to .016.5". Called them to tell them that my order was the wrong thickness they said they cant exchange it. Called the factory and told them what happened and they sent me a roll of .014" for free. It pays to complain.

The .016.5" will come in handy on those g/c shanks that are a little loose with your .014 ".

I found some at Lowes. It mikes at 0.16" and is painted on both sides. Works great with my 30 cal. FreeChek. On second thought, I believe it is 0.14". I will have to measure tomorrow.

I've been using aluminum beer bottles(not cans) from Bud Lite. They've been working pretty well for me so far. I don't have time to check right now, but I think that they were around .016" thick.

I've seen little squares of flashing at Lowes that are around the thickness you are looking for, but they seem to vary a little from store to store & even from batch to batch. I've seen stuff in identical packages measure anywhere from .012-.017". You need to bring your calipers when you go shopping. I've seen aluminum flashing in general go from .008" - .030".

Amaforzon.com is the best place to compare prices on Amerimax flashing. I got a roll of Amerimax 68114, .014 for about half the price I had paid for on Ebay. The 68114 is 14"x50'.

LOL!! Thanks stew!
The only place I could find it was amazon . It ran about 64.00 for a 14" x 50' roll. that should make a lot of checks. "standard" is in fact a grade that is .014" thick.
Thanks to ALL!!!!!!!!!! I was getting desprate.....Buck

If any of you guys want some .014 and can't find it I can ship you some. Amerimax #68104 4"x50' roll is 14.99 + tax. 4 rolls fits in a medium flat rate box. 4 rolls is a lot but its the best deal for your dollar. My Ace store seems to always have it in stock.

This can be ordered through Ace hardware on line and free ship to your local store; better price than Amazon, etc.

Some of you may find this to be kinda interesting: I called the national number for Ace Hardware today and found out that there are three different Ace Hardware companies in this country that go by the name of Ace hardware. The real "Ace Hardware" as I've known them for years has two stores within 30 miles of me and neither carries the Amerimax aluminum. I gave them the manufacturers number of 68104 and there was no listing in their warehouse. After some computer searching they told me that their SKU number for that item is SKU-58102, which is the Ace Hardware national listing number for Amerimax 68104 aluminum flashing. So.....by using the SKU number, any Ace store can check availability of that item. By the way, it's available to be ordered at either of my stores for $14.99, free ship to store.

Try the aluminum "For Sale" type signs at Lowes. The last one I checked was .0125.

This may be one source that's close to you. Don't know about the hardness of this particular brand but this roll will produce about 7,500 checks. Other quantities are also available at .012 thickness, and according to Pat Marlin .012 will work just fine.
