Is Carmen Axtell still making the 1877 Sharps replicas? I can't find her site and was told she sold out but I have no idea who she sold out too. If she is no longer making them is anyone selling just an action? Thanks

Thanks Kenny.....I wonder if Shiloh will make a rifle as well fit as all of Axtell's I've handled.

have you ever seen a Shiloh's Fit? they are beyond compare.

I would not worry to much about It and the service from Shiloh, Second to none.

Yes I have Kenny, had a number of them in the shop I help out in. I have nothing against them but the earlier examples atleast of Axtell's I've handled I thought were a cut above them overall. I always thought about getting a 77, never cared for 74's , but for some reason I never ordered one. We had a fellow in the shop today who wanted an Axtell is the reason I asked. For me I wish I could get just an action and have my gunmaker build on that but I doubt I could buy just the action.

Kenny,

no offense man, but which will come first, the Borchardt they have been talking about since 2005 or the M77?

I like Carmen's rifles, the only place I saw lacking, was the stock finish could have been nicer.

Rich,

Last I heard from Kirk was he was going to do the 1877's next, Borchardts on hold, He mentions that way he can go broke later making the 1878's just like the first company. I think that was a bit tongue in cheek.

C-Sharps is also offering a 77, but I'm not sure if you can buy just the action like there other actions.
I love the looks of the 77s but it is way beyond my budget.
When the original Sharps went out of business it was probably because the big bore repeating rifles were becoming available. Firepower was the important point, which was the point of the single shot cartridge rifle over the muzzle loader. Custer's fate might have been much different with 76s or 86s. Then again maybe not, he made a pretty big blunder.

I have a DST, add-on PG LR model Axtell in 45-70 for sale if anyone is interested in "right now" instead of "down the road sometime."
