I used to load 250gr in my dad's 45 colt but now that I cast 200 gr for my 45acp I plan to use them in 45 colt as well (cowboy velocities)

Used to use universal... but now with the 200gr I get a lot of unburnt powder coming out the barrel and need to switch to a faster powder.

I have 8lbs of Solo 1000 that I use for 45acp.... anyone ever try it in 45 colt? What are you loading?

Thanks,

MIke.

I really like Solo 1000 for light/target loads in many handgun cartridges. It measures very well for a flake powder and burns clean with little if any position sensitivity. Six grains will do ya for a medium load.

Oh by the way ... DATA PDF (http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/accurate_load_data_3.5.pdf)

Re-edit. Dang, they don't list 1000 in the 45 Colt. Nevertheless, 6.0 works in my gun with up to a 255 SWCL.

Like you, I've got 8# of Solo 1000 just begging to be used. I've tried 6.0gr and 6.5gr with the RCBS 45-255 bullet in .45 Colt, and both are good. The 6.0gr load will soot the outside of the case, but is a really nice load.
