Hands down, the RCBS 170 grainer. It actually casts 180 with WW. It will shoot in 323 barrels just fine. ... felix

See if you can find a 323471, it is the most accurate cast bullet in the 8x57 that I've used. It is a Loveren (SP?) GC design. I size mine .325" and only lube the first 3 grooves above the GC. Thus when seated so the top of the GC is just into the bottom of the case neck the front driving band just kisses the lands of most every M98 I've used it in. The long bearing surface of the Loveren fits the long throats of most 8x57s perfectly. Over 28-30 gr of most 4895s with a 1/2 gr Dacron filler that load is a consistant MOA shooter. I am hard pressed to equal it's cosistant accuracy in any .30 cal milsurp. The mould I have is also a HP version and is a deadly bullet for deer.

The GB 8mm bullet of recent buy should be a good choice also if you can find one.

I have had very good work from the plain old Lee 175 grain mass-produced design. This is in a Gewehr G98/40. This rifle also likes the 240 grain design shown in Buckshot's photo, and it would be my choice if I were to hunt with the rifle. That boolit sent along at 1800 FPS lets you know the primers functioned, while the 175 grainer at 1600-1700 is a real kitty cat.

That last descriptor should rouse Carpetman from his torpor. I still owe him for that Glock remark he passed along, and lay in wait for the chance to spring an ambush. :-)
