By the summer, I want to put all my bullet development to rest with my Marlin 1894s. I started my final testing cycle today by pouring my first TLC359-175-RF, a bullet designed specifically for the Marlin 1894C which is chambered in 357 Mag.

http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/bin/TLC359175RF/images/might_mag.jpg

This bullet is designed to fit the OAL requirements of the Marlin (1.59") while balancing weight with terminal performance. As soon as the bullets are lubed, the shooting will start. I have a couple of other fellows working with the bullet, Steelbanger and Tom Myers. Tom will be looking at the bullet in wheel guns. Once the testing is complete, any changes will be made if necessary and my inventory will be ordered. Notice the "Factory Crimped" cartridge. In addition to this and a few other bullet designs, I will be offering collet type Factory Crimp dies for the 1894 cartridges starting this summer. If these are being used as a rifle cartridge, I want to treat them as such.

My work with the 1894 chambered in 45 Colt has come to a close and tomorrow the TLC454-290-RF will be available in my store. These bad boys have received the Factory Crimp treatment as well.

I did manage to take a nice sow last week at 75-yards with the my 1894S and the bullet. This gas checked design along with some velocity and pressure behind it, knocked her right off her feet. She is Jimmy Dean's Hot now, quite tasty!

My 41 Mag design, the TLC411-255-RF, should be arriving in the next 30-days. Luckly, the hogs are running wild on the Ranch so there is plenty of test material.

You can find my bullets for the 1894 Classic Limited seriesl; the 218 Bee, 25-20 Win, and 32-20 Win on my web site as well.

The TLC359-175-RF is not currently listed on my website. When the testing is complete and inventory order, it will be added with complete information.

Good morning
I would recommend you add the Dan Wesson to the suggested firearms list for this mold.
The DW has long cylinders and this boolit could be easily seated out to cylinder length and gain some good powder capacity. One more grain of 296 really makes it a screamer.

Nice hog.

Young man, when you start offering the Factory Crimp Collet die in .45 Colt would you please post a thread? I want one. In fact, I want the first. I'll pay now! :)

Thank you sir.

Once again you have seen an unfilled niche and provided a product for it. I'll be watching for the 359-175 and factory crimp dies for it and the 44. I really like your TLC 432 265 in ALL my 44 magnums...great accuracy and they clean out the lead left by other designs. My only complaint is that "gas checks ain't free."

Best wishes to the RANCH DOG clan.

Always liked bullets on the heavier end for cast shooting. Looks like a winner.

I finished up pressure testing my 1894S (45 Colt) this afternoon with H110 pushing my TLC454-290-RF. Putting some pressure behind this potato makes a heck of a big game rifle. It will take me a day or to to finish analyzing the nummies but I think a max load will be around 24.7 which will be running at 1650 FPS. This is from the 16 1/4" barrel on my "S" and accuracy is excellent. I will be working with Lil' Gun next, that should get it above 1700 FPS with the same pressures.

I need to lube, size, and load both the TLC359-175-RF (357 Mag) and TLC411-255-RF (41 Mag). I thought I would get to it this week but the I had a few other projects here on the ranch that needed to be addressed.

A friend of mine just got his hands on one of those Davidson's specials in 45 Long Colt that looks just like the 1894P except unported !

I about had myself talked into trading him something I have he wants for the rifle and then getting my hands on one of your 45 Colt molds !

I looked real hard for mine as I wanted a 45 Colt to compliment the look of my 1894P. To the 1895G, it is exactly what the 94P is to the 444P! My rifle is one of the 500 made of the Ohio Gun Collector's Association.

On another note, I had waited quite a while for a guy to give me the word on him selling me a 1894S in 41 Mag but it kind of fizzled. That would have given me a carbine stocked, square lever 41 Mag and I would have turned the 1894FG. I like the FG because it is unique but it is too heavy in my opinon.

The .45 Colt is much like the .357 in that in a rifle, it's a whole 'nuther cartridge. Mine is a 94 Winchester Trapper and I love it.

RD,

Please let us know when these moulds and crimp dies are available.

The 45 Colt mold, the TLC454-290-RF (http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5_28&products_id=25) is available now. The 41 Mag mold, the TLC411-255-RF (http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5_27&products_id=24), will be available late next week or early the following. The 357 Mag mold, the TLC359-175-RF, some time this summer.

My mold business is doing very well, I roll every penny of profit into these new designs. I need about $XXK to fund the FCD dies but it must be done from my profits as I will not borrow money for this business. I feel pretty good about that happening fairly quick as I continue to cycle molds off the ranch rather briskly.

Again Ranch Dog I can't wait for the 357 FCD (as well as the mold).

I'll think about that .41 mould. I've tried several moulds/bullets in my Marlin .41 and have not been completely happy with any of them yet.

I love my 432-265 RD mould.

that 's the bullet I'm waiting for. I've been more than pleased with the 265 and 300gr for the 1894s and really need one this size for the 1894c. little sister will be a thumper too.

Glad to see this one.
I got a .357 Rossi to hold me over until I get my .35 Remington built some day.
The 190 won't make it through the Rossi, so I need ONE good mold to have ONE good load for that one and being able to get an RDO design for it will make that possible.

Jeff H if the 190 is a bit too long in a 357 mag case use a 38 spec case. Or trim the 357 back eough to get the length.

Thank you.
I won't use .38 cases though, because I don't want to mix them up with what I put in my .38s.

I think I will trim 10 .357s just to see how it goes. It appears as though I coiuld take little enough off that it will still won't fit in a .38. I wouild say that the long nose of the 190 would preclude that, but I have gotten some long cast .357s into my .38s chambers that leave a lot of room at the end, while the same thing in my SP101 (and it's not the "125 gr only" version) that stick out.

I will be on the RDO bandwagon again this summer for the 175 gr he is working on for the Marlin and just need something to poay with until then.

I've continued to work on these carbines throughout the spring and into the early summer. I realized that I had not killed a hog with the 1894FG (41 Mag) and the TLC411-255-RF last week and rectified that last night. Shot this in the food plot below my house about midnight. I originally went out into the milo and was surrounded by hogs but it was too dark to see anything. Came back to the house and had told my wife to shine our light in that direction, figuring it would allow me some light despite the distance. Went back out, it worked like a charm, enough light to sort them out. I shot this fellow at 90-yards hitting immediately behind the shoulder on one side and the bullet junction of the neck/shoulder on the other side. He went down with a thump!

http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/images/TLC411255RF_02.jpg

The picture, to get the rifle in, just doesn't do justice to the size of the hog. I took this picture from my Driod before I started to clean it. The winch is at the upper limit and the boar's snout is just off the ground. I could not get a scale between the lift and hog without his head still on the group. A big dude dropped on the spot by a sporty little cartridge! As it ends up, this morning I found two more hogs dead. Killed three out of the sounder with one shot!

Can you explain your collet factory crimp die? Like lees rifle collet crimp die that the bullet nose is actually sticking out visible? Will they have the carbide sizing ring? (hope not for rifle rounds). What makes them better than a standard fcd (with the sizing ring removed)?

In the next few weeks, I will be offering traditonal type FCDs for the 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt. These are special order dies, only available through RDO. NO MORE CARBIDE SIZING RING!

RD,

I'll be ordering. Some Qs:

Will the .44 mag work with the Special round?

Do you suppose I could use the 45 Colt die for the 45 Auto Rim?

Thanks.

Neither application will work. There is not much travel left with these dies to make the collet close in the intended cartridges.
