To those who have a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington, what kind of accuracy do you get with cast boolits at 100 yards? I did this today and just grinned from ear to ear.
The load is with Remington brass, collet neck sized, WLR primers, 38.0gr of BLC-2 (that is gov't surplus and 20 years old), the boolits is the RCBS 200gr w/Hornady GC, NRA lube and sized to .360."
The rifle is a SC model made in '87 and has a Tasco 4 x 12 scope (30 years old) with turrets (only on the rifle for load testing). I am going with either a weaver V3 or Williams rear peep and fire sight on the front end. A Marbles tang sight is also in the running.
So what type of groups do you gentlemen get at 100 yds?[smilie=w:

I've owned 4 Marlin's in 35 REM in recent years !

A nice old circa 1952 336SC , a pair of 336D's and a 336XLR .

The 336SC did very well with the RCBS 35-200GC sized at .359" from aircooled wheelweights and lubed with Thompson's Blue Angel . It had peep sights and I only shot it at 50 yards on paper . I used 14 grains of SR4756 in this one and killed a couple whitetails nicely at 40-60 yards .

In one of the 336D's I shot the Ranch Dog 359-190GC also with SR4756 and it did okay on paper . Maybe an inch at 50 but again I didn't try it to much at 100 from the bench .

The other 336D was a jacketed bullet only proposition and the 336XLR was Leverevolution only . And og course I killed deer with both of the jacketed bullet rifles before they left my possesion ! The cast bullet 336D I never hunted with before I sold it !

Looks pretty good, but don't have one to compare.

Mine is a pre safety micro groove so I struggle along believing all the rumors. Sorry the boolit groups are mixed with the J-word ones.

The RCBS 35-200 is a winner in my 336. I use 38 gr of H335 and speed green. If I do my part that boolit will consistantly group 1.5" at 100 yds. My 336 is also a pre-safety MG.

I have put together some loads with Re-7, H335 and 3031 as well as some more with BLC-2. I will set up the chrono and run more tests tomorrow while it's still warm. I PM'd Larry Gibson and he was very kind and helpful about developing hunting loads and what works for him. Thank you guys for your input. Oh also, the alloy was AC 92-2-6.:cbpour:

I also use the RCBS 35- 200 sized .359. I use it over 25gr IMR4198 with a pinch of dacron for 1850fps. I load it to lightly touch the rifling. It shoots 1.5 in at 100 yds regularly (this is apparently as good as I can shoot with a 3x9 scope as I have gotten to this place with alot of rifles) . Shoot straight, T-Bird

I tried Ranch Dog's 359-190 in my Marlin 336 (micro-groove) and this is what I got for the first load tried at 100 yds.

I really haven't tried any more loads, this will get the job done very nicely !

That is pretty much what I see from my 336D and 336SC. H322 in the "D" and H335 in the "SC". Both pushing 2300 FPS.

Best part of it is my NEF .357 MAX gives comparable results with that boolit...... great design job Ranch Dog.

I shoot the RD 359-190 and the Lyman 357-214 grain SWC bullets in the Marlin 336 35 Remy. Both perform well and the deer have never complained.

Old bob, I shoot both of these bullets in my Contender Sup1 4 in 357 Maxy and 35 Remy. I think the RD bullets perform btter, but the Lyman bullet is heavier and hits slightly harder.

RD, Michael, will tell I am a big fan of his bullets.I have been shooting them for 2 or 3 years now and have always been happy with the results.

Here's my first outing at 50 yards with a 336SC and Ranch Dog's boolit w/ H335. There are 8 shots in the group that measure just over one inch:

Fellas, fellas! These lever guns cannot be made to shoot. It is the wobbly two-piece stock, see?

My current favorite in my '52 336SC is a 35-180FNGC GB from some years back. My groups hover around an inch at 65 yards, just about 1.5-1.75" at 100ish. I blame most of that on my miserable excuse for eyes. I forget what powder I'm using.
