Howdy All,
I have the opportunity to buy in on a bulk purchase of WC 844 pull down propellant for my ARs. This particular lot # is LC-12610, and my question is whether anyone here has used this recently released batch. I bought some of the primed cases it came from at $.08 each: Lake City SS109/M855 2009 and they still have the asphalt sealant in the necks. I need the propellant but no load data is included in the sale. This price will be $160 delivered for two 8 lb jugs, so it is a fair deal in my opinion ONLY if load data exists or can be easily developed. As mentioned elsewhere in this section, I sure miss the days of $55 8 lb jugs of Data 2200 from Widener's a few years ago.
Your Thoughts?

My lot number is #726 for the batch of WC-844 that I have. I purchased two 8-pounders and I only have about 6 pounds left...

My particular lot loads using H-335 data and is about 2 grains slower than my H-335...

But, that is the lot of WC-844 that I have. Yours will likely be different...

The seller should give you some data, or at least starting loads. I would ask if I were you...

Good powder...

Good-luck...BCB

If no other choice, use 22.0 grains for starters using nominal weight 22 boolits. That would cover the fastest lot of 844 that I have experienced (not AR guns). Normal loading was 26.0 grains for 65 grainer BT condoms?

Many Thanks for the replies, Gentlemen! I think I will go ahead and bite on the deal. I have used H-335 with good results in the past and I have an Oehler chronograph to compare velocities with known propellants against the WC-844. I will check with the distributor again about data as well. Of course further input is always welcome from anyone else who might have experience with this propellant.
I Love this Forum.

Got-r-Did; the lots of WC844 I've used were very close to canister H335. I don't have lot numbers recorded but they came from Hi-tech in the mid 1990's and Pat's in 05 or 06

Excellent SWheeler, Thank You Kind Sir!
I am both relieved and encouraged by the information provided by you, BCB, and Filix. I may up my commitment to four jugs at this price. It won't last long now that my Daughter has expressed interest in her own AR15; she already has a bolt gun in .223 Rem.
I can't thank you all enough for your contributions.
