.............Yup, sure can. Be sure to check case neck ID and thickness after sizing as that brass has to go somewhere. However, 308 or once fired military is cheap and not as much work :-)

I have to disagree with Buckshot here. Yes you can resize it, but shouldn't because the reformed brass will be 6mm shorter than the 8 x 57mm case: 7.62 x 51mm v. 8 x 57mm. However, you can easily reform .30-06 brass -> 8mm Mau., but since the latter isn't all that difficult to find, why do it at all?

If he wants to end up with a 51 mm case why can't an 8 X 57 mm case be trimmed to the proper length.

I disagree....I'll side with Buckshot ( and all his cautions ) and say that he CAN do it. However, I wouldn't because it it far too time consuming to make it worthwhile.
