Hi guys,
I have a question that I've been kicking around in my tiny little brain for some time.
I have a Baby Eagle in .40 S&W. It has polygonal rifling.
What I was wondering about is this.
I have been sizing my bullets (Lyman Devastator 150gr hollow points) to .401.
After reading on another board about using cast bullets in guns with this type of rifling you may need to size larger to minimize leading because the bore is actually a little bigger. I thought I might want to try sizing to .403 instead of .401.
My accuracy hasn't been the best with .401.
Now for the second question, Does Buckshot or Lathesmith make dies for a Lyman 4500 Luber?
I would appreciate all the input you guys have on this matter.
Thanks,

I have never had a .40 caliber mould, yet I've certainly loaded and shot many thousands of .40 S&W using .401" 180 grain commercial lead boolits through a Glock. Never had a problem, but then I don't mind cleaning guns. I don't see why .403" would not work unless it bulges your case to the point that it will not chamber reliably. I say reliably because some of your brass, being thinner, will accept the fatter slug and chamber fine while some, having thicker walls, won't.

just my thought. but why don't you slug your barrel and see how big it first. then work from there! just my 2 cents :)

I've done this with the Glock 45 caliber barrel, and while it doesn't show lands and grooves--it did show flats and peaks. These mic'ed .449" x .453". I opted for an aftermarket barrel in the Glock 23, and its throat and grooves are EXACTLY .4005" and .400" respectively. .401" boolits work wonderfully.

Have you tried some as cast?

You guys that cast for the polys need to use zinc wheel weights but only in a steel mold . Zinc will work in a AL mold but not for long

Why zinc boolits?? Lead is fine with me, not looking for the headaches and
hardness.
