No, it doesn't crimp. It provides for a floating top punch and flat surface in your loading press ram so that GCs can be seated squarely. For shanks small enough to allow the GC to slip on, it isn't necessary. For shanks larger than the GC you can either spread the GC further or use some leverage to seat them.

NOE also has a gas check swage for moulds that have too large of a shank to allow the gas checks to seat properly.
