I have an AR 7. It has two action springs. The firearm will cycle if I use high speed ammo, not standard velocity.

I thought about cutting 1/2 coil off of each spring until it cycles with standard velocity.

1 - Should I leave it the way it is?

2 - Any other way(s) of changing the current setup?

3 - I did not take the gun all the way apart. Can the springs be changed?

Thanks

Hiram, I've owned a few of them over the years. Before cutting the springs, take the receiver apart and check for burrs/rough edges inside, as well as the holes in the back end of the bolt. I had one that wouldn't fully extract and turned out to be a rough spot on the lip of the chamber. That one was made when Charter Arms made the rifle. Also check the length of BOTH springs with the bolt removed. If one is longer, it can cause just enough bind to make your day less than perfect. Hope this helps.....
