My friend brought out his new rifle today. A SS Marlin in 45-70, WOW what a beauty! He had some sort of loads he bought with cast boolits and Starline brass. I shot two at 50 yd's with open sights and both shots were touching. I had to drift the front sight a little and raise the rear a notch. Next two shots were touching too. The rest was pure fun clanging steel at 100 yd's. I fell in love with this lever gun right then. Trouble was each shot cost a buck. I told him to buy a mould and join the crowd so he can shoot for 15 cents or so a shot.
Boy, I wish I had some money!

44man, you have all the money in the world, most especially you! You have friends all over the place. Just think 45-70 lever gun and one just shows up at the door, and one that shoots too! ... felix

Yes, I feel honored to call every one of you my friends! I don't know how to express my feelings any better.
But you must realize that there is a little lady here that thinks I am nuts. She has never understood why I need so many guns, say's I can only shoot one at a time!
She does tolorate me though.

After 39 years of sparring, the wife & I found a good agreement. If I buy a rifle, she gets a new set of dishes & vice versa. Works for us. Pilgrim

After 16 years she doesn't know one gun from the other. The trick is not to keep them together. The lady can count.
If she catches me......
I'm sighting this in for a friend, working up loads for a friend etc.
Worked so far.

"She who must be obeyed" can only carry 1 Pocket Book at a time, and ware 1 pair of shoe's at a time, and yes we can shoot 2 six shooters at a time. Seems to me we should have twice as many guns. Does that make sence to anyone????

Those Marlin 95's in 45-70 are just a tremendously practical field and hunting rifle for those of us who pour our own. There is one such animal at a local shop that is calling to me in a rather loud voice......might not be able to hold out. I "need" it like a trout needs a mountain bike, but that sort of pragmatic thinking really has no place in this discussion.

Fortunately, LOML told me a couple of years ago that she gave up counting the guns, or trying to keep track!
