I read a few posts in the archives that say you can't hollow point a LEE mold due to the alignment pin, well I had an old 45-70 mold that I wanted to modify for my .45 colt so I attempted it because I really had nothing to loss.

The problems that I forsee using the lee mold and HPing it the way I did was wear in the HP pin area of the mold due to the aluminum mold blocks. To thwart this as much as possible I used a large brass pin. The mold is not perfect but how often do you think "Gee I want to cast a bunch of hollow points to plink with"
This was an inexpensive way to use a this bullet for my revolver
