I am new to this and I am going to take the plunge and order my first die. I know they may not be the best, but if this new hobby, (i have been reloading for ten years but never with the lead, only plated, and full metal jacket) doesn't work out, I don't want to kill the budget at first. I plan on purchasing the 358-140-SWC. The this thing is, is I am also going to be using a Lyman 4500 for the resizer and need to order the top plate for the die (733-109). Would I use the 330-844 like on a Lyman Die?? It is the same type of bullet type. I knwo this may sound stupid but I don't want to order the wrong top punch. Thanks!!

They are called top punches, not top plates.

The Lyman 554,402 ( or commonly called a # 402 ) top punch will fit the Lee 358 140 SWC.

Sorry to sound stupid but I am looking at the new midway master catalog number 34, and I don't see that die. Am I stupid??

O.K., Now I found the #402. In My midway catalog it is labeled as 140-182. Thanks for the help!

The # 402 top punch will solve your problem and work fine with your bullet.

Good Shooting,

on midway's product page one can often find the correct top punch by looking either at suggested products or people who also bought this bought this too ...often isnt always however so ...at the bottom of every page here is a link to cast pics , if one scrolls down the menu on the left side is top punch references , which in this case list this
358-140-SWC 554,402( lyman) 554(rcbs)

And, this has to do with swaging..... how????

Might not entirely have to do with swaging Duke, but it is great to see people around here no matter what part of the forum they are in going the extra mile to give a fellow reloader a hand instead of being a stick in the mud and having them go somewhere else to find the answer....

Thats one of the few things I like about this forums. There are things I do not like about the forum, but the brotherhood of those willing to help is the one thing that keeps me back here reading...

I give a big thumbs up to those willing to go the extra step to help someone out from a different part of the forum regardless what the topic is....
