View Full Version : gas checks...how thick are they?

I have measured some of mine, and seem to get really weird #'s.

If measured with the caliper, I get .008, if measured with the mic's...I get .014 (but I think it's because the back is the only place to get a good measurement, and it's formed, so I'm not measuring a flat piece of metal.....the thing is, I've read elsewhere that they are .030

I would use the mike and a little ball bearing.Then just subtract the ball dia.Should get you a nice measurment right in the middle

I've measured 30's as .017 and 35's as .010. It depends on the caliber.

Most thickness of gas checks will be .0165-.017. This is Hornady and Gator checks.
