I have three rifles that should - in theory - measure .311-.312:

SMLE = Groove diameter .314
Mosin m44 = .315
Mosin 91/30 = .3135 - .314

So, can I just size .316 and use the same bullets for all three? I would be using hard alloy (basically linotype) and I am concerned about causing too much pressure. It would be about 2 - 21/2 thou larger than the groove diameter in the 91/30.

Should I be concerned?

.001" to .002" over groove to groove dia. has worked fine for all my applications in both rifle and handguns.

Before loading up a bunch of ammo make a couple dummy rds. using the .316 dia. bullet in the brass you plan to use in those rifles and make sure it will chamber reliably.

My Mosin M44 shoot well with .313 to .314 dia. cast bullets and chambers well with the Prvi brass I use,however if I try and use Surplus brass the case necks are thicker by a few thousands and without turning the neck the cases want chamber with my cast bullets installed.

If you can chamber it, shoot it.
