More than likely it would be 6-S for the ojive.

Herters also made a SWC shape .22 swaging die (Why? NO idea) and those are set up like the half jacket pistol dies with the "base" punch actually being the nose punch.

The Herter's .22 swaging dies I had were for the Herter's 9-ton press and had spire points for use with half-jackets.

Herters swaging dies have no ogive they are just a single die that makes a shouldered bullet with a half jacket. They made these in 22, 6MM, 38, 44 and 45 caliber. I never could find a good use for a semi wadcutter in 22 or 6mm. Maybe a light load in a 22 Hornet.

here's a photo of some of the bullets made by a herters .22 caliber die. I didn't make them, and they aren't mine. I don't know if they made other nose profiles.

I guess "SWC" isn;t quite accurate, but these are what I was talking about earlier.

I shot some of those in a hornet and they punched perfectly round holes, like a wad cutter. Really neat!

What's the weight of those swaged herters boolits?

The ad for them stated they where 40 grains. As I said, they aren't mine, so I can't verify.

I have several sets of herter "partial-jacketed" dies. these are the type that fit a standard 7/8-14 thread press --
" This die is designed to swage half and three-quarter length jacketed bullets"
"you can produce any weight bullet desired by adjustment of the die"
** "to change the nose shape of the bullet a nose punch is all that is required" **

Above is from the operation and adjustment directions -- Written by george leonard herter himself , no doubt :-)

I have two sets of 22cal, one nose punch is pointed, one is semi-pointed.
The 30cal set has a round nose punch and the 38cal has a semi-wad cutter nose.

As mentioned before the nose punch fits into the shellholder -- 222 -30/06 - 38spl. the shell holder is the same as a regular shellholder except it is solid -- that is not bored for primer removal/replacement.
