Pattern Dress Paper

Has anyone used the pattern paper the women use in making a dress. Its looks like onion skin almost.

I thought it to be to weak to do a good job, the stuff I highgraded out of the wifes sewing basket wanted to tear to easy just rolling the bullet.
Paper mill's 9# 100% cotton onion skin works pretty well.
