So I picked up a pair of Turkish mausers for cheap, and one of the rifles had a horrendous headspace problem, a nasty looking arsenal replacement stock and and had a hard life in general. Pretty sad looking:

This old girl needed a new lease on life, and I needed a 308 bolt gun, so the customization began with a complete dissasembly:

I found a new stock, and barrel (Remington takeoff) and I ended up with this:

The bolt turndown turned out a lot better than I expected, especially given the extra short handle that came on the Turk The scope is just an old 4x that I had lying around. It will work until I can get something a bit nicer.

Oh, BTW the only work I didn't do myself was the actuall barrel threading (ordered it with the small ring threads) final chamber reaming, and the bolt turn down.

That's called; "making a silk purse out of a sow's ear....." Well done, what cartridge and how does she shoot?

308 Win. I didn't have a 308, and my brother sold a really nice savage 99 in 308 for $200 when his reloads wouldn't chamber easily, so I had to get back at him somehow.

I get to take her to the range this weekend, so I will find out how she shoots then.

She isn't perfect by a long shot, but for my first try, I am happy so far.
