Anyone shooting Boolits in the 7MM Mag?

I never see anyone posting anything. I have worked out a couple so far that have promise.

May take some tweaking as I have moved over and am now shooting the 135 grain FP GB mold.

Next are some ten shot groups and chronograph runs.

If I can get 2000 fps then I may see if it will stop one of our little deer next year.

I'm not currently shooting cast in the 7mag, but have an article by Ron Carmicheal 1992 Handloader, Cast Bullet Special Edition. The test rifle is a Savage 110DL. Bullets 16bhn and LBT Blue

One of my sons has a 7mm RMag, haven't talked him into using cast in it yet (he would be purchasing the mold), the other 2 sons have 30-06's, both shoot cast, but then I did buy that mold lol.

Oldest son has a 30-06 and also gave me a progressive press for my birthday, felt I could spend the money on a mold for him lol.

Boom Boom has done qute a bit in the 7mm bore category, including the rem mag.

WHICH 7mm mag????? There are quite a few anymore.

I guess an crotchety O.F. only recognizes one 7 MM Mag.


The rest just try to prove they are up to the performance.

I just realized how many rounds this gun has had go down range since I first fired it last fall. No wonder my ingot pile is shrinking and my supply of two different 7mm boolits has dwindled to almost nil.

Good thing I just cast and lubed another 15-20 pounds for the spring season.

I used to shoot the Lee 130gr with 2gr Bullseye in my basement when I was a kid....only when it was below zero and I didn't want to stand outside and shoot! Got a little smokey!

Steel plate deflected the boolits into mom's wash tub. I'd fish out the lead and melt them down for another ride!

That was back in '74. Amazing I am still alive. I would strangle my son if he did half the stuff I did!

I'm shooting the Lee 7mm boolit over 13grns of Unique from in a TC Mag barrel which gave decent results. cI'll work on the load further when rhe weather breaks.
