Any recomendations for a .515 or .516 sizing die? I get alot of flashing around the base of my smith bullets and it makes them hard to load in the brass cases.

I have a 450 but not sure I want to keep changing lubes from smokeless to BP. i guess i could run them without lubeing. Right now I just dip them in the lube and place them on a piece of wax paper.

thanks guys

I dip mine in melted Carnauba Red and then push them through a 33/64" (0.515625) drill bushing with my drill press.

I didnt thin C-Red was a BP lube. Maybe I wouldnt have to change lubes after all.

Contact member Buckshot, he makes both the LEE style push through and Lyman H&I sizing dies.
I have 3 of his Lyman sizing dies and all 3 are dead nuts on size.

I use CR in both cartridge guns and front loaders with real BP or 777.
No problems and easy cleanup.
I have a .58 Zouave carbine that went 40 shots without cleaning, using a minie that just barely slid into a clean bore over 55 grs FFFg. I pushed the last shot down the bore with two fingers on the ramrod.
Accuracy has been acceptable or as good as I can shoot in everything that I've tried so far.
My understanding is that CR is a mix of beeswax and carnauba with no petroleum products.
CR is a bit harder than some other lubes and needs a bit of heat to flow, especially at this time of the year.
The minies and the .50s for my Smith carbine are dipped in melted CR, then pushed thru home made sizers with a piece of dowel rod in my drill press.

Thanks guys, I have som red on order but didnt know it would work for the smith. Not to hi-jack my own thread but what are others using for wading under the bullet? I have been using a piece of index card but have been looking at these:

Contact Buckshot via PM. I believe the issue with dies this size is the amount of steel left after the hole is reamed. If you own a press that can handle the larger 50BMG/shotgun size dies he should be able to make you a Lee type easily.
