I was at another site the other day and saw someone wanting to give away ? a NEW SAVAGE 7 mm 08 bbl. Well almost give away $45.00 TYD.

I have never loaded or cast for this cartridge so looking for mold and powder suggestions. It is a 1-9.5 twist and will be used with cast only and a lot of paper punching.

Well, MidSouth still has 6 cavity 7mm Soup Can molds in the Special Order Molds section. I can't tell you much about them except the mold looks good, I just got it a couple of days ago and haven't tried it yet. Yes, its killing me, but I have other priorities.

With that twist rate you might consider a longer boolit as well, but live with seating them deep.

I can't tell you anything about shooting boolets in one, but I'll bet i've killed about a dump truck load of game with the 7/08. It's one of those chamberings that you can just about do everything wrong and it'll still shoot.

FWIW: Mine shot a 140 Sierra flat base seated .010 off the rifleing on top of IMR 4064 or Win 748 extremely well. It would shoot sub 1" groups with boring regularity.

Can think of lot worse ways to spend 45 bucks.....have been shoting 7/08 for 20 years but always jacketed bullits. Might be time to try some cast boolits in it.
