Can this be made to work? Can you cycle the action and get good accuracy?

I'm still working on mine.

So far I have the Lee 312-155-1R mold, sized to 311 and gas checked over 17gr of 4227 or 20gr of 4198. Dealing with leading issues in the gas port though. My Saiga jammed hard after 75 rounds due to a lead ring in the gas tube. I may need to use more JPW or something.

22.5gr of 4198 kicked brass into the next area code, 20 is better but still throws pretty hard. I may try 16gr 4227 and see if I can't get brass to drop on the table.[smilie=1:
Shows decent accuracy out of my CZ 527 though.

I've had success with the CE Harris load (15.5gr 2400 **MAX) in my Chinese SKS.

You have to clean the gas tube out about every 300 rounds or so, but it's not a huge deal. I use a 20 guage shotgun bore brush and it takes a few minutes at the most.

No leading in the barrel with any powder i've tried.

Every once in a while i'll get a loose fitting boolit in certain brass cases. My solution for this is to take the guts out of my resizing die and put a very light crimp on the neck which holds the boolit.

If you are in the Phoenix area, i'd be willing to give you a few samples of the Lee2R155 boolit to try before you invested in that mold.

Works for me. I'm using a 135 grain group buy spitzer mold. 15 grains of 2400, lubed with carnuba red and gas checked, sized to .314, cycles the action on my norinco AK every time . Many thousands of rounds fired.

I'm using IMI brass, and have over 12 reloads on the brass, annealing after 5 or 6. I can hit a 4 inch square plate at 200 yards consistently using a side mounted scope.

Overheating the barrel with rapid firing will cause leading in the gas block and lock up the piston. I use a small diameter solid aluminum rod to remove any gas block leading.

If you're just looking to blast rapid fire style, cast probably isn't the best way to go.

Ole Got it right! That is the the Load of Loads for the wd/ww lee155 Gas check/lube size to 1 over barrel 15.5 2400. Very Accurate! NO Rapid fire!

Yep, can't just jack cast boolits through a gun at high speed, for the most part. Much easier to just grow your own penis and balls, and not let the rifle try to compensate.

My 7.62X51 Nato chambered AK by Saiga eats the 180gr cast over 25gr of 2400 like candy.
