I believe, while kroil is great for helping with the casting process, it has little if any rust prevention properties.

I'm sure others will jump in with the absolute facts

Forget the Kroil store molds in a military ammo can(I use 50 cal) that has a good seal and add
a couple of decacant packs, no rust in over 25 years of casting and 99% of my molds are steel.

I spritz my moulds with Kroil while they are still warm, then put them away. Haven't had any problems with rust whatsoever, and I live in high humidity area.

When getting ready to cast I just pull them off of the shelf and preheat them. Never found the need to degrease when using Kroil. In fact I usually use it to clean oil off of my moulds.

I just use a goldenrod in my mold cabinet.

Put them in a zip lock bag with some of those desiccant packs, or do as I do and use an old, dead refrigerator, a light bulb and a big desiccant pack.

VCI paper from Uline and ziplock baggies! Then when your ready to cast you don't have to clean your moulds first.
