thought id present my method of pan lubing here as ive heard and read questions about both methods and this is just my method for the pan lube.

im not the last authority on this and for sure others can and will also help with suggestions ive left out. so here i go with my little storie.

i begin with heating my lube [ bullshops "nasa" lube here] over a very low heat so as to not burn off the propertys i want to keep in the lube.

then i pour into the "pan"[here its a steak pan with low sides just the rite height to cover all the grooves i want covered] the melted lube till it covers the boolits lube grooves.

then after allowing it to cool to room temp. [ this also heats the boolits to the temp of the melted lube]

i then use the cutter i made out of a fired 45-70 case that i drilled out thru the primer pocket to accept my punch for removing the boolits from the cutter

after this i then put my thumb over the drilled out primer pocket so as to create suction on the boolit ...this helps to remove it from the hardened lube.

now i have the lubed boolit inside the cutter i use the "punch" to remove the boolit from the cutter...being carefull to not marr up the nose of the boolit while doing so.

now i have a plate full of lubed boolits that are ready for the loading.

takes longer to explain then the practise tho. this is just as fun for me as any of the other "chores" used to create home rolled cartridges.

after lubing in such a fassion...you can then run em thru a sizer if needed and they are already lubed so its just run em thru.

if ive left anything out please do include your suggestions in addition to these as this is meant for a learnig thing not boasting.

have fun pan lubing and shooting.

Great photos and I like your pan. I would like to try one of those.

I used a Dremel and cut the head off my cookie cutter cartridge and push out the boolits with a dowel.

rite on...another great idea as the wood would undoubtedly never ding the lead as you push out the boolit

I forgot to add, after my thumb got sore quickly from pushing the cartridge tube into the lube, I found a short flat piece of wood to put over the case as I pushed it.

Why dont you just push the bullet through with your thumb instead of using a case??

i first tryed to push em out both backwards and also tryed to wiggle em then pull em out but found too much lube left on the boolits and this way they are very clean when im done and the xtra left on the outside is minimal. also this process leaves the lube in the pan where i can re-use it rather then wiping the excess off with a rag or papertowel and trash canning it. maybe i just never had the viscosity in my lube to withstand pushing them out with my thumb.

Use the liner from a 100 round MTM box..after the lube cools, put the block back on the liner and push the bullets out , point up or down whatever.

A neat way I saw was the person uses one of the flexible silicone baking pans and used a bullet tray to place the bullets into the pan then poured the lube into it and when it cooled the solidified lube and bullets were removed allowing the bullets to be pushed out with out a cookie cutter.

I use the method described by Doc Highwall - works great and you do not need to make a cutter. Get one of those flexible baking dishes and after the cake cools just pop the whole works out of the baking dish. Now you're free to push the bullets out with your fingers. My experience is that you get good complete lube groove fillout dependent a little on your method of pushing the bullet out....

I have found through the years that the Kate Cutter works best for me. It keeps each lube cavity full and even. It does not allow some of the lube to be pulled from the cavity when pushed out with the hand. It's another one of those things that may be done different ways with them all working. You pick the one you are most comfortable with. Lee made lube kits several years ago that contained a small pan, kate cutter, and a stick of NRA lube. Buckshot makes some nice ones.
