I made up a batch of RCBS 200 grainers for my SW1076 today.

I was going to use AA#7 or Blue dot, but thought maybe 2400 would work better to build up pressure slower on the bullet.

Any recipes with this bullet/powder combo you guys want to share?

Lyman CBH #4 doesn't list any powder slower than blue dot with this bullet.

Thanks for the data source. :)

I ended up loading a sample group @ 8.6gr of Blue Dot (starting load in Lyman CB #4).

Will report back on how it shoots. I love this gun and can't believe I put it away for so long. :Fire:

Shoots really nice with 5.4gr Bullseye and the Lyman 401638. [smilie=1:

I wouldn't have a problem with a slow plowder (like 2400) in my S&W 610, but it wouldn't be my choice in an auto. I shot IPSC for years and saw several failures and LOTS of beat up barrels and slides from guys trying to use slower powders. Their thought was more velocity, more and more powder gas to make their comps work better. What happened was the barrels unlocked when the pressure was still up, and it battered the slides and barrels.

The 10mm was originally loaded pretty stout, and was downloaded after failures of Colt Delta Elite frames, Bren Tens, etc. I chrono'ed Norma 170gr at 1350fps+ through my 5" 610. Original spec for 200gr jacketed was 1200fps. The 10mm is a great cartidge.

S&W 1026 owner/operator here. 11.0 grains of 2400 ran the RCBS 200 grainer about 1025 FPS (5" barrel). 12.0 grains got past 1100 FPS--about 1135 mean. BIG sd, though.

I prefer Blue Dot or AA-7 in the 10mm with the 200 grain bullets/boolits. Less grit in the bore, more accurate and smaller sd.

I did cast some BruceB softpoints for the 10Gun, and have 20 loaded over AA-7 waiting for muleys to cooperate. 70 grain .375 RB donor slug, the base is 92/6/2 alloy. Look out, Hatracks.

FWIW, in the 1026 a 200 grain RCBS TC prints right to the sights at 35-50 yards when prompted to 1150 FPS. I need to get that pistol out to the range and field more often. It has whacked its share of jackrabbits and ground squirrels over the years--I don't recall whether I've used it on any coyotes.

Gotta imagine that 200 grains of heavy metal running 10 football fields per second wouldn't do anything living a whole lotta good. Viewed in another way......the 10mm's ballistics run very close to those of the 44-40 WCF from a '73 Winchester, one of which harvested a whole bunch of muleys and blacktails for my ancestors' tables.
