Have a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. Just bought some cast boolits from someone who had no use for them.

205 gr RNFP-GC bullet. Sized .358 and lubed. Would prefer .359-.360 for the micro-groove rifling, but the price was right and something to play with.

I have looked at the normal load data (Lyman) and also Ranch Dog data for his 195 boolit. He shows data pushing them b/n 2000-2300 fps. I would like to do this, and not worried about leading with the GC.

Can anyone share any lead boolit data and powder recommendations to push this boolit to hunting fps/energy levels? I will us all data at my own risk, and youc and you can send it via PM if you are more comfortable with that. Thanx

Why don't you start off low and slow, something like 14.0 gr 2400 or 10.0 gr Unique and see what happens? I'm not a MG owner, but the general rule is the like fat boolits. You may be starting off with a handicap. I shoot my 336SCx35 Rem with non-MG rifling with as cast boolits dropping about .360.

My 35 Rem is not a Marlin either, it has a standard groove barrel also. However, I prefer 200 gr FNs in mine and it does love the RCBS 35-200-FN. I suggest 4895 staying with in publishd data for the 200 gr j bullet. You should be able to get 2000+ fps with that combo. Trust me, a 200 gr .35 caliber cast FN bullet will kill deer and hogs out to 200 yards all day long.

Just for chuckles (and to save creating a BIG problem) I would start out slow before I put the smack to'em. Then if you can still see rifling, work up.

But .... that's just me.

My MG Marlin does fine with the RCBS 35-200-FN sized .358. At 2100 fps with IMR3031, five shot groups at 100 run 2 to 2 1/2" consistantly and leading is not a problem.

I use the RCBS 35-200 FN in my Marlin with microgroove rifling sized to .359 so you may be OK. I use the data for the 200 grain jacketed loads as listed in the Lyman #49 maual, and have had great luck with full house loads. My current go to load for either the Hornady 200 gr. RN, or the 200 gr. FN cast boolit is their listed accuracy load using AA-2015 powder. Both the jacketed, and cast bullets have the same point of impact ( well, about an inch difference), and shoot satisfyingly small groups.

+1 to what Larry said.

My Marlin slugs out at .358 and does just fine with the RCBS 35-200-FN at 2000 - 2100 fps. I have used 33 - 37 gr. of IMR 4895 and 31 - 35 gr. of Ramshot X-terminator. Like Larry said, data for 200 gr. jacketed bullets works fine. Thats one of my favorite qualities of the .35 Remington, you can run it at "full power" with cast boolits as well as jacketed. Start at the starting load for whatever powder you prefer and work your way up. You should be able to get 2000+ fps with good accuracy.
