Ok guys, I finally found the 5.5" Blackhawk Bisley I've been looking for - it's a stainless .45lc/.45acp convertible. [smilie=p:

This will be my pig hunting sidearm/primary arm.

I have Miha molds for it (45-270-SAA clone and 45-200gr Rn) and Miha's Ruger only mold on the way. I need to send it to Cylindersmith to have the throats reamed - the SAA clone won't even chamber sized .452. [smilie=b:

Now I need to find a suitable holster for this baby. I'm looking for a practical leather holster for it, nothing too fancy or too far down the cowboy action trail.

I've been having a hard time finding a holster for a 5 1/2" model that doesn't say "does not fit a bisley" that would fit the preferences above.

So here we go - how about some holster recommendations and/or eye candy of your Bisleys and their gunleather?

Also, anything else I need to know to make this monster shoot with my boolits? Favorite loads?

Thanks in advance for helping another noob. I don't think there's a question I could ask that someone here can't answer - thought I'd try this one.

www.simplyrugged.com Sourdough pancake is my holster of choice followed by the Bianchi 1L.

Once you get the throats reamed and have a tall enough front sight, I'd stand on that 270saa with around 24gr of H110 lit by CCI-350's. It will shock you how well it will shoot.

Freedom Leather, Freedom arms.

964-01 B M83 Western Style suede lined. 6" I don't think it's too western. It's just a good, rugged holster.

We have our very own holster maker here. Check out the vendors. I think his name here is springfield? Whyte leather works has just what you need and the prices are pretty good from what I've seen.

Good suggestions guys. Anyone have any experience with the Galco SAO?

And Tek, I cannot wait to get the Bisley going with a load like that.

Check out 7x leather. I carry my 4 5/8" flat top in one of the chest rigs that Wes makes.

The El Paso 1942 Tanker shoulder holster won't flop around on ya.

I like all the bells and whistles as well as the fact that on one of these I can mount a smaller holster to the drop harness. Like when I leave one of the .45's home and attach the dick special (to the strong side!) to the rig. It is really stiff though, but thick and lined.

Ruger used to have some holsters by Galco on their website that were strong side or cross draw.
I've got one for my 5.5 Bisley and like it much. Check Ruger's website or Galco's.
MiHec 270 SAA's over 25 grn. 296 & CCI 350's gives serious mojo.
20 grn 2400 or 9 grn Universal if 296 provides to much mojo on the back end.

Check out Andrews Custom Leather. I like the Saddle Holster for general use.
