Anybody ever cast a pewter bullet for use in those places that don't allow lead? Seems like the Tin - Antimony - Copper alloys ought to work OK, but the density is very low.

Solid pewter bullets will come out at about 60% the weight of a lead alloy in the same mold. No reason it wouldn't work if loaded to the actual weight, but I'm thinking that, if questioned, you'd still have a hard time convincing the "do-gooders" that it is not a lead-based bullet.

I was told by a fellow that tried it that tin or mostly tin alloys will foul the barrel quickly. I casted some "pure" tin boolits just for show but never tried firing them.

They would get awful expensive too.

I think I'll take some of my tin/Cu babbit and make some boolits, just to mess with "do gooder" heads. I love doin that kind of stuff! 10 ga

I cast a boolit from babbit and could not even beat it down with a hammer. It was not brittle though.
