So I have a 9.3x57 with a large bore, .372". Also a chamber cast reveals that there is no throat. Or more correctly it has a thoat that is exactly bore dia. .372" from the end of the chamber to the start of the rifling. the rifling starts at .550" from the end of the chamber. I have pp'd some NOE 359008 ?? a GC'd round nose at 280 grains. I patched it to . 374" and sized to .373". When I attempted to chamber a dummy round that I have loaded so that the gas check was still in the neck the exposed paper was crushed back to the case mouth, If I push the boolit deeper so that the top land is even with the top of the casemouth then the gas check is about .250" below the neck. I fear that when I fire one it will shred the paper off at the end of the chamber and send a .358" boolit down a .372" barrel to who knows where. I am thinking a throating reamer may be of some help here or perrhaps rechambering to 9.3x62 but I think I was to go to a throating reamer first and creat a tapered throat from chamber end to rifling beginning with dimension of .385" to .372" for a distance of .562" this should allow the paper patched boolit to enter the rifling without loosing the patch. A couple of pics below. I shaded the end of the chamber and the begining of the rifling. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/PaulGauthier/IMG_9923.jpg

Also made a new expander button for the die that sizes the neck to .372".

So far everthing works well but don't think that throat is going to allow patch to fit down into the barrel.
Any thoughs??????

Patch to 0.3715" or so and fill the throats length seating the patched boolit into the beginning of the lands slightly. Don't alter the throat. 303 guy I will do so as soon as I can. We are getting dumped on by mother nature for the next two days so I will be very busy moving snow, or white s&#&* as I like to call it. :(
