I just bought a new Seaco 225 RNBB mold and it drops at .451 so I did the foil tape thing and that got it up to where It where it would size at .452 and shoot good.

I am pretty sure it's the mold because I have 2 other Seaco molds that are 200swcbb and they both drop out at .453 with the same pop of lead. 6lb. lino to 14lb. pure lead with some tin added. I tried different mixtures but didn't seem to change much.

I am a little nervous about lapping. Hate to wreck a $150.00 mold. E-mailed Seaco but haven't got a reply yet.

Am I over looking something ? Send it back or try to fix it my self?

Thanks Brent

I'd sent it back. Why fiddle with it if they will fix it or send a new one.

I have three Saeco .45 cal rifle molds. All are too small to use.

I have their .452 185 grain SWC and it has the same problem. I sent it back to them and they returned it with a very nice letter saying that with whatever alloy they use it casts at .452 and even included 6 boolits that they cast with my mold. All measured .452 to .4525. With my range scrap I was back to .450 to .451. Then I remembered that I was not the final judge of the suitability of the size -- the gun was. So I loaded up a box, went down to the range, and proceeded to destroy the centers of the targets with nice tight groups and no leading in the barrel. The gen and the boolits taught me another lesson that day. This is still my "go to" mold.
